Being overweight

very dangerous for your
health.

health problems . As we get older it is
easy to gain
unexpected weight. With a little daily physical
activity we can keep weight under
control and it may even make you feel better.
Smoking
If you smoke then please
consider quiting. Research shows that smoking
causes more diseases
than any other personal habit. Examples are
cancers of the lung, mouth, bladder, and throat. Not to mention heart
and lung disease along with strokes.
Stress
Stress can cause physical
symptoms. The first symptoms are
usually mild, like chronic headaches, backaches, chest pain, rapid
heartbeat
and increased susceptibility to colds. With more stress more serious
health
problems may develop. Chronic stress will effect you emotionally as
well.
Anxiety, depression, eating disorders and substance abuse are mental
health
problems related to stress.
Sun
Exposure
Sun exposure is proven to
cause skin cancer which is the most
common type of
cancer. So avoid long exposure to direct sunlight by wearing protective
clothing
and hats. Always wear sunscreens it may
help protect your skin if you can't avoid
being exposed to the sun's harmful rays. It is recommended to one with
SPF 15 or
higher, and always choose one with both UVA/UVB protection.
Practice
safe sex
The safest sex is between two
people who do not have a STD or
who do
not share needles for the injection of recreational drugs. If you are
unsure about your
sexual partner, please use a latex condoms and a spermicide
(sperm-killer). If
you have any concerns or if you may have been exposed to a STD, see
your
doctor and get tested right away.
Physical
Health
screenings are very important. Talk to your family doctor about
your risk factors and what tests and exams are right for you. Your
doctor
may want to do certain test if you have a family history of a
condition or illness.
If you have any health concerns
speak with your health care provider to insure
all is well.
Alcohol
Limit how much alcohol
you consume. Too much alcohol can damage the liver
and lead to some cancers, such as throat and liver cancer. Alcohol also
contributes
to the cause of deaths from car wrecks, murders and suicides.
